Professional Learning Activities
Professional learning activities can focus on mathematical content, mathematics instruction, assessment, technology, differentiation, mathematics leadership, or other topics indicated as 'high-needs' by teachers and administrators. Formats include on-site, online, hybrid, synchronous (online live sessions), asynchronous (no set meeting times), summer, and compacted academic year offerings and are delivered through Kent State University and Ohio Mathematics Teacher Hubs.

- Provide mathematics teachers and mathematics intervention specialists continuing education units (CEUs) or master’s level credits related to mathematics teaching, learning, assessment, and research to meet the needs of five-year license renewal.
- Workshops, PD, graduate-level courses, and other professional learning experiences will be designed to meet the needs of teachers’ overloaded schedules: on-site, online, hybrid, summer, and compacted academic year offerings provided.
- Within and across-district (and region) lesson planning and reflection sessions.
- Network lesson, activity, assessment, and resource sharing.
- Teacher educator-embedded professional learning experiences.
- Vertical and horizontal coherence mathematical content and practice planning sessions.
- Instruction and assessments that focus on mathematical habits of mind, in addition to mathematical content.

- Math Circle opportunities.

- A library of resources teachers may ‘check-out’ (see 'Materials for Loan' section for a partial list of materials available for teachers to borrow).
- Relationships among student preparation for state summative assessments (i.e., Ohio State Tests), standardized tests for college and university admittance (i.e., ACT, SAT), college and university mathematics placement exams (e.g., ALEKS Math placement assessment at Kent State and Youngstown State, Ohio State’s Math Placement Test), and assessments that require students to problem solve, model, and communicate mathematically.
